Are wooden pallets safe for non-flammable chemical warehouses?
Wooden pallets are combustible and unsuitable for flammable-chemical warehouses (Class 3) without a full fire-protection system. NFPA 13 (US) and equivalent EU standards require sprinklers for warehouses with wooden pallets storing flammable goods. For non-flammable chemical warehouses (fertilizer, non-combustible corrosives), reinforced wooden pallets fully meet safety requirements. Consult your warehouse safety team for DG Class 3 storage.
Can a 1,000-liter IBC tank sit directly on a pine wooden pallet?
Not recommended. A standard pine pallet has a dynamic load of 800-1,000 kg, while a full 1,000-liter IBC tank weighs 1,000-1,300 kg, exceeding the safe limit. Use a reinforced acacia pallet rated for at least 1,500 kg dynamic load. Standard IBC tanks per ISPM-31 also have a steel base frame matched to a 1200x1000 mm pallet - check the IBC footprint before ordering pallets.
